It's very easy and inexpensive to get around Taipei without a personal car.
Inside Taipei:
Getting to and from the airport:
Inside Taipei:
- MRT - This is the name for the subway system in Taipei. Rides cost between 25-50NT. You can purchase single use tokens at each station. All signage is in English as well as Chinese. They also announce each stop in English!
- Bus - The bus system is more comprehensive than the MRT but also harder to navigate in English. Google Maps is very helpful to not only plan bus routes, but to watch your movement along the route so you know when you are close to your destination.
- Taxi - If you'd like to take a taxi, just bring the address written on paper and give it to the driver.
Getting to and from the airport:
- Taxi is the easiest, but most expensive transportation method between the airport and Taipei. It will cost you around 1200NT - 1500NT.
- Bus transportation is very convenient but a little tricker. You will need to bring exact change for the fares.
- You can also take the High Speed Rail (HSR) to the Taoyuan station and there's a shuttle that will take you to the airport.
